Freezin’ at the Fort Holiday Plunge
December 16, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Come join us on December 16, 2017 for our inaugural HOLIDAY PLUNGE at Paradise Ocean Club (490 Fenwick Rd, Fort Monroe, VA 23651). Brave participants of all ages will plunge into the cold waters of the Chesapeake Bay to raise money for the YMCA Guardian program, a scholarship fund which ensures all children get to experience Summer Camp at Fort Monroe regardless of their family’s financiial situation. Celebrate the holiday season and get into the spirit of giving by taking the plunge to give a child a week or two of Summer Camp!
BECOME A PLUNGER by getting family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to sponsor you to take the plunge. Collect $100 in sponsorships and get a plunge t-shirt; collect $300 and receive a hoodie sweatshirt. We also have a VIP (Very Important Plunger) category for those who can raise $1,000+. Perhaps your company, colleagues, employees, club members, teammates, classmates, etc. will collectively sponsor you at the VIP level so you can make a big splash and a huge impact by helping several kids and families in our community.
REGISTER TO TAKE THE PLUNGE: http://
All plungers must register online (no fee). After you register, we will email you information and a personal online giving link to help you reach your fundraising goal of $100 or more. We are seeking 100+ plungers, so get your friends and co-workers to plunge with you!
WHAT TO EXPECT THE DAY OF:
Plungers will need to be ready to take the plunge at 11:00 AM sharp. You may arrive at Paradise Ocean Club as early as 10:00 AM. There will be a meeting with all plungers at 10:45AM. At the time of the plunge, we will all stand together, do the count down, and then run into the water together. We encourage you wear a creative, holiday-themed costume (e.g., Santa, reindeer, elf, snowman, etc.). Best Costume will receive a prize! You must go completely under in order for it to be considerd as a plunge (unless you have special needs or medical concerns). When you come back out of the water, wrap in a towel and get warm. We will then go inside to change into warm, dry clothes. Hot beverages and warm food will be available for all plungers, sponsors and spectators. All spectators must sponsor a plunger to watch the event.
